Education: Applied Mathematics (PhD 1983). Between 1975 and 1999, carried out research on nuclear fusion (EURATOM). From 1999 onwards, an official at European Commission headquarters, affectations DG Research, DG ELARG. During this time, apart from articles on nuclear fusion issues, I published a monograph on European integration (in Latvian, 1994). After becoming a pensioner and moving to Riga I published a monograph on the Lisbon Treaty (in Latvian, 2008). Beginning in 2006, I have a position as lecturer at the College of Law Riga) lecturing on European Integration and Law; numerous articles on didactic issues about the EU. Research interests: Latvia’s road to EU Accession and challenges post-Accession. Additional research interests: on Latvian exile (diaspora) including its stance on European integration.
